For those of you who haven't tried cake pops, let me explain what they are a little bit.
First, you bake a cake from a box or scratch. After it cools, you mix icing with the cake - I use a mixer. After it comes to the right consistency, I roll the cake into balls. They firm up in the fridge for a little bit and then comes the fun part! After inserting the lollipop sticks, you'll take each ball and dip it into candy melts. You can use any color or flavor. The most common are chocolate and vanilla. Flavorings are also available, but I haven't tried them yet. You can also color the white (vanilla) candy melts to make your own colors. After dipping, they harden up in the fridge again. Sometimes I put sprinkles on them while they're still wet and sometimes I drizzle some melted candy melts/chocolate on top. They are a little time consuming, but a lot of fun and so far everyone seems to like them a lot. I look forward to making new arrangements and experimenting with other flavors.
